First Family Triathlon

Family triathlon relay completed. My dad has wanted to do a triathlon relay for years with my older brother and me. Both my dad and my brother DO that sort of thing, though, and suggested that I do the running leg, but I always complained that I can’t run/hate running. But my dad is in his seventies, and we just went through Covid, and I’ve started getting much healthier after years of going in the wrong direction, so I had to say yes. The race was a half-Ironman, so my running leg was a half marathon.

Please don’t ask me my pace. It was SLOW. VERY SLOW. I walked a LOT. But I’d never done a half marathon before, and hadn’t done ANY kind of race since 2013, so it was something. And the crowd, the energy of that massive event, and connecting with my parents and my brother over a new adventure made once-in-a-lifetime memories. And despite all my complaining I hope we do it again. Feels like I’m fighting to free the best version of myself again.
