The New Saturday Morning
Day 227.
Husband and I used to get pretty late starts on Saturday. Now we’re on a hiking and biking kick Saturday mornings, waking up early and driving out of the city before traffic heats up. The fresh air, the sun, the hours of exertion by noon on a Saturday, all feel so great.
I really love being alcohol free. Little by little I’m recapturing time and just DOING MORE. Laughing more, experiencing more. My brain space is so freed up from not having to obsess about alcohol, about appearing to be a normal drinker while scheming to ensure I could have enough to get me to the buzz level for the evening that I wanted.
I’m going to switch more of my social activity to active catchups, too. I never really enjoyed “dinner and drinks” anyway; I just did those to DRINK. I like food a lot, but don’t care about socializing over food. So tomorrow I’m meeting a friend for a walk and talk instead. Planning a few more incoming weeks, and figured post-Covid is a good time to figure out how to socialize differently.
